The coroner is a liar, the widow is a seductress, the detective is a suspect, the sheriff likes a good cover-up, and the lady from church keeps showing up where she doesn’t belong. In Uppsala County, Iowa, solving this case will be murder.

Recovering from his initial surprise, Dr. Irving Franchon leaned over and looked again into the eyepiece of the powerful Steindorff portable scope. A huge smile crossed his face as he thought, Oh, Mrs. Porti, I am so-o-o glad you murdered your husband.
My seventh novel features a whole new cast of characters, set in a different small city in Iowa. Tony Harrington fans need not worry, his next adventure is nearly one-third complete. However, I hope you'll also love Jack Bennigan, a 30-year-old detective with the Uppsala County Sheriff's Department. He's clever, if somewhat quirky, and easy to like. The only catch is, he may have murdered someone in order to frame someone who he didn't want to get away with murdering someone. The good news: he could be innocent. Other suspects include the farmer, the widow, and even the church lady.
The publication date has not yet been scheduled. There's still a lot of work to do, such as editing, proofreading, and cover design. Keep checking this website for updates.

What About a Title?
The new novel has not yet been titled. I recently polled a big portion of the mailing list of Tony Harrington fans and asked for votes on eight different titles. So far, I've received almost 150 responses. The title The Wages of Death is leading by a pretty wide margin. Again, stay tuned. When the final decision is made, I won't be shy about telling everyone!
